That's one small step for the project, one giant leap for me.

Once you've had some serious down time it hard to get up and running again. I'm still working on my first anime one but in the meantime here are some character and location sketches for the short story project.

So for the girl I went with cold colours cause she gets all frosty at the end. No particular influence for either character design as this is a warm up exercise I'm kinda just going by what comes to mind as I go.

The location I'm using for my version of the story is based on an underpass near my college. There's something ominous and foreboding about it.

Next Time On Apparently Artist...?

I think John still has one to put in, but for now (When we get time around all our deadlines) I humbly sumbit the next round:

The first Anime or Anime series I ever watched. Or the first series you saw after you realised what Anime was. I grew up watching Astro Boy and Samurai Pizza cats. But after I learned that it was a particular form of animation from Japan it was a different series.

Mr. Freeze

I know it's Whedonverse week here on the blog, but back when people were having a second crack at our Batman theme I started this. Unfortunately college work got in the way and I only now got around to finishing it! Better late than never.
More comicky news; me and Naomi Bomb as well as a handful of others are heading to Thought Bubble Leeds Con! It'll be me first proper convention visit, as well as my first time stepping foot in England, it's gonna be a helluva experience! Might do up a few cheap and easy pocket-sized minicomics to dish out at it. Oh, and I'll be gunning for the 2000AD Talent Search contest too if all goes to plan...

The Dark Knight

Wowzers, when I suggested ol' Bats as our first theme I didn't think everyone'd have their bit done the next day! A good sign I say, least we're all really into it.
Anyway here's my piece. I actually went through three different ideas first (one being a more literal fight in an alleyway, the other being a dynamic Paul Pope-esque shot of Batman jumping over buildings) but I hadn't done anything with indian ink in and a brush in a while so I went with this.

Hurrlo Deadpool

Because the only thing we need more than more cowbell, is more Deadpool.

Naomi 18 - Oct - 2011

Just a simple 'Invader Zim' design I sketched up and finished on Illustrator. :]

Who are we?

Apparently Artists..? is a collective art blog set up by Naomi Bolger, Eoin Marron, Dave McGinnis and Keith Byrne, 4 students in Ballyfermot College of Further Education who wish to throw their art at you. Literally. Any second now, sketchbooks will fly.

They each have a passion for comic art and illustration, and just want to share that with the rest of the art community. What the frack* , using 3rd person sucks. It's Naomi here typing for the record.

We were influenced by the SketchPaddys and Eclectic Micks to start up this blog, as we see such great work from both blogs which really influences us. It's funny how the name gets less impressive every time.. Starts off 'Eclectic Micks', slowly drops to a more common 'Sketch Paddys' (no offence, guys, you know I love you all :P), and the bottom rung of art society; 'Apparently Artists..?'. We're not even sure if we are or not?!

We hope for this to take off, and we'll be updating it continuously!

Thanks!!

Naomi x

*Frack is a word used in Batltlestar Galactica as a replacement for f**k, and, to all you folks who are gonna whine and say it's 'frak' , yes, it currently is, but 'frack' was the original intended spelling. Jussayin'. ...please keep reading our blog...
